TIPS FOR CONTACTING A LAY WORSHIP LEADER OR SUPPLY PASTOR
- Make contact as far in advance as possible.
- Provide your worship supply with the following information:
- Location of your worship site – good, clear directions or a map
- Times of services
- Information about your liturgy: setting used, hymns chosen, any important changes, any special events for the day, if an assisting minister, lector or other worship leaders will take part, special prayer requests, etc.
- If there are any additional responsibilities before services, during Christian Education hour, or after the morning services are concluded.
- Whenever possible, provide a worship bulletin or folder before Sunday morning.
- Make arrangements for the church building to be open and have someone available to greet the worship leader.
- If cancellation of service(s) is possible due to weather or other emergency, please notify the worship leader as soon as possible.
- Please compensate your worship supply leader according to synod guidelines:
- $100 for 1 service, $25 for each additional service occuring on the same day
- $100 per service occurring on different days or overnight accommodations and breakfast
- EXAMPLE 1: Saturday evening service = $100; Sunday morning service = $100
- EXAMPLE 2: Saturday evening & Sunday morning = $125 plus overnight accommodations and breakfast
- Reimburse mileage according to the current IRS rate (55.5 cents effective January 1, 2012).
