TIPS FOR CONTACTING A LAY WORSHIP LEADER OR SUPPLY PASTOR
1. Make contact as far in advance as possible.
2. Provide your worship supply with the following information:
a. Location of your worship site – good, clear directions or a map
b. Times of services
c. Information about your liturgy: setting used, hymns chosen, any important changes, any special events for the day, if an assisting minister, lector or other worship leaders will take part, special prayer requests, etc.
d. If there are any additional responsibilities before services, during Christian Education hour, or after the morning services are concluded.
3. Whenever possible, provide a worship bulletin or folder before Sunday morning.
4. Make arrangements for the church building to be open and have someone available to greet the worship leader.
5. If cancellation of service(s) is possible due to weather or other emergency, please notify the worship leader as soon as possible.
6. Please compensate your worship supply leader according to synod guidelines ($100 for 1 service, $25 for each additional service) and reimburse mileage according to the current IRS rate (58.5 cents effective July 1, 2008).
